High school footballer smears 'deep heat' in opponent's face

What the hell has gotten into high school football players recently?

First, there were the two Texas players who blindsided a referee with a brutal hit. Then, there was the New Jersey player who ripped off an opponent's helmet and proceeded to hit him in the head with it.

And now, we've seemingly hit a new low thanks to the actions of a player in California.

According to CBS Los Angeles, Angel Salazar of La Canada High School ran off the field in the middle of a game late last week with a serious situation. It seems a player on La Canada's opponent Salesian High School had picked up a handful of IcyHot (a deep heat-like substance), reached up under Salazar's helmet at the end of a play, and rubbed it all over his face.

The result was this:

It's an insane thing to do to a person and, truth be told, Salazar could have sustained some really serious injuries during the game. Specifically, he could have been in big trouble if the IcyHot had gotten into his eyes.

As of right now, it's unclear what penalty, if any, the opposing player will face. But this has officially gotten out of control. It's one thing to hit a guy hard on the football field, but high school players are now doing things that could result in them getting hit with criminal charges. When will it end?
