Week 8 is in the books. A lot of teams will pass the midway point of their schedule this upcoming weekend. While there's still a lot of football to be played, things are beginning to take shape across the league and we can no longer discount what's going on as early season shenanigans.

Josh Allen is the new MVP favorite

After the Buffalo Bills' 26-11 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Josh Allen has become the new betting favorite to win the MVP. Allen currently sits at +250 to win the award.

Allen's Bills are 5-2 to begin the season and remain strong favorites to win the AFC East. Through seven games, Allen has thrown for 1,972 yards with a 17-to-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He's also added 269 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Allen takes the mantle from Kyler Murray, who has been the favorite to win the MVP for well over a month now. It wasn't a good week for Murray, as the Cardinals lost their first game, Murray had a subpar performance and now he might be dealing with an injury. Murray currently sits at +500 to win the MVP, the third-best odds on the board.

Other contenders for the award, according to the betting market, are Tom Brady (+400), Matthew Stafford (+600), Dak Prescott (+650) and Aaron Rodgers (+900). After opening as a 6-to-1 favorite to win the award, Patrick Mahomes currently sits at 40-to-1

Bills are Super Bowl favorites

Allen is now the favorite to win the MVP, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that his team is a legitimate Super Bowl contender. In fact, they're the favorites to win the Super Bowl at BetMGM

Buffalo is currently going off at +500 to win it all. This puts them slightly ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +600. Other teams near the top of the leaderboard include the Rams (+650), Packers (+800), Cowboys (10-to-1) and Cardinals (10-to-1).

Buffalo made it all the way to the AFC championship game last season, and it doesn't look like the Kansas City Chiefs will be nearly the feared roadblock they were last season. The Bills' defense has been incredible and Allen leads one of the league's best offenses.

Other award favorites

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Ja'Marr Chase is now the odds-on favorite to win the award, currently sitting at -145. Mac Jones is next at +350. Oddsmakers view this as a two-horse race.

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Micah Parsons is the clear favorite to win defensive rookie of the year. His odds sit at +115. Odafe Jayson Oweh of the Ravens is next on the leaderboard at +800.

Offensive Player of the Year: Derrick Henry was the clear favorite to win this award, but his injury has put an end to that campaign. Cooper Kupp (+900) and Davante Adams (+1100) are the favorites to win the award.

Defensive Player of the Year: It's a four-man race for the defensive player of the year. Myles Garrett sits as the current favorite at +350. T.J. Watt at +400, Trevon Diggs at +500 and Aaron Donald at +850 are also in the mix.

Comeback Player of the Year: You might as well hand this award to Dak Prescott, who currently sits at -500 to win the award.

Coach of the Year: Mike McCarthy and Brandon Staley are co-favorites to win this award, with both sitting at +650. Kliff Kingsbury at +700 and Sean McVay at +900 are also contenders.
