Aussies Davidson, Disken win Paralympics gold

Brayden Davidson and Tim Disken have delivered gold for Australia at the Rio Paralympics with victories in long-jump and swimming.

Davidson won the T36 long jump and Disken led home an Australian one-two in the S9 100 metres freestyle, with fellow Aussie Brenden Hall claiming silver.

18-year-old Davidson who has cerebral palsy, jumped a Games record 5.62m in the T36 class for Australia's first track and field gold of the Rio campaign.

He won on a count-back after Brazilian Rodrigo Parreira da Silva posted the same distance.

Davidson dedicated his victory to his grandparents.

"They were massive supporters of me," Davidson said.

"My nanna was the one that gave me the dream of even going to the Paralympics."

Disken beat home Hall 56.23 to 56.95 to win his second medal in Rio.

The 19-year-old Melburnian won bronze in the 200m individual medley on Monday (AEST).

Elsewhere, Australia also won silver in the T34 100m at the track through Rheed McCracken, para-table tennis player Sam Von Einem has taken silver, while the men's wheelchair basketball team are into the quarter-finals after beating Japan 68-55 in their final pool game.
