Furious baseballer snaps bat over his own knee

Baseball pitchers are notoriously bad at hitting. When a pitcher steps up to the plate it's almost a guaranteed out.

So the actions of Jeff Samardzija recently were downright bizarre.

The San Francisco Giants pitcher did not take striking out well against the Cincinnati Reds, snapping his bat in half over his own knee.

To put that into context, it's like Glenn McGrath breaking his bat after getting a duck.

While his efforts with the bat were poor, Simardzija was brilliant on the mound, leading his side to a 3-1 victory, an impressive feat considering he may well have had a few splinters in his leg.
