Marathon winner takes comical tumble at finish line

Kenyan runner Robert Mbithi won the Bath Half Marathon in record time, but lost his dignity when he got tangled in the finish line tape.

After shaving 16 seconds off the race record, the 26-year-old raised his arms in joy as he completed his run but was sent sprawling to the ground straight away.

Fortunately, Mbithi was uninjured in the fall and seemed to take the mishap in good humour.

"I am very happy with that. I liked the course and the support from the spectators was fantastic," he said.
