Wife of Steve Hooker banned for drug use

The wife of Australian pole vaulter Steve Hooker has copped a two-year ban for drug use.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has given Russian 1500m runner Ekaterina Kostetskaya a two-year suspension for the "use/attempted use of a prohibited substance/method", the agency's website said.

Kostetskaya was charged under IAAF Rule 32.2b for the drug use, which occurred at the 2011 world championships in Daegu, where she finished fifth in the 800m.

She isn’t allowed to compete again until January 20, 2015.

Olympic pole vault champion Hooker and Kostetskaya met at the Beijing Olympics and were married after the London Olympics in 2012.

In 2013 the pair had their first child, Maxim.
