Rousseff to present WC trophy to winners

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff will present the new World Cup winners with the trophy at Sunday's (Monday AEST) final in Rio de Janeiro.

"I will hand over the trophy at Sunday's final and am keeping my fingers crossed it will be to Brazil," the president said in an internet chat.

It had not been clear whether Rousseff would present the trophy. She has avoided watching World Cup games at stadiums after being booed during the dress rehearsal Confederations Cup opener a year ago.

Fans also vented their displeasure with her at last month's opening game of the World Cup in Sao Paulo.

Rousseff is expected to present the trophy together with FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
