Is this the worst football dive ever?

Yahoo!7 December 12, 2012, 3:15 pm

Italian football players often resort to theatrical diving to win a free kick and this is one of the worst we've ever seen.

This Oscar-winning performance from Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci last weekend has gone viral, even in the world of football that is unfortunately used to such theatrics.

Thankfully, referee Andrea De Marco knew exactly what was going on and awarded Bonucci a yellow card for his obvious attempt at deception.

Bonucci's yellow means he will now miss Juventus's next match through suspension. And we think it's a good thing too.

The most infamous dive we can remember, at least from an Australian point of view, was ironically from another Juventus defender Fabio Grosso.

In the final moments of Australia's 2006 World Cup match against Italy, Grosso won a penalty when he fell to the ground under minimal contact from Aussie defender Lucas Neill.

That penalty saw the Socceroos kicked out of the tournament, but it did generate the hilarious photo below.

How about the unemotive commentary! You would think that he was reading a grocery list rather than describing the most ridiculous dive ever seen in profession sport!

Game for cheats and bad sports, always has been and that's why it won't ever really catch on here. Not sure why I bothered to watch clip or make a comment.

A typical, slimey, oil skinned, greased haired, Italian comment from Francesco. The Italians brought theatrical diving to the sport and ruined the game and what an idiot to state that it wasn't a penalty against the Aussies in the World Cup when there hasn't been a more blatant dive in a penalty box.I'm assuming a bribe will change Francesco's opinion because the Italians are good at that as well you garlic ridden, mozzarella cheese brained, pizza faced, nancy twat.

Francesco, it would seem that you maybe don't know the rules. Contact in the 18 yard box does not mean a penalty, a foul in the 18 yard box does. Even the referee admitted after the game that the contact did not deserve a penalty. Attempting to milk free kicks is a blight on the game and should attract far greater penalties.

Typical stupid australians. Players dive in every league every week yet they only show the italian league. Maybe they should get over 2006 and by the way australians know nothing about football or the rules and yes it was a penalty in 06 because there was contact. F&^%ing retarded aussies stick to cricket
