Coroner rules on McCathy's death

John McCarthy's tragic death in Las Vegas last month has been ruled an accident by a US coroner.

Assistant coroner in Clark County, Nevada, John Fudenberg, said McCarthy died from injuries sustained in an accidental fall.

"I can tell you that we ruled the cause of death as multiple injuries due to a fall from height and the manner of death is accidental," he told AAP on Saturday.

Fudenburg would not comment on whether drugs or alcohol were found in McCarthy's system, with the toxicology report remaining confidential.

McCarthy, 22, fell to his death at the Flamingo casino and hotel complex.

The Port Adelaide player had been separated from teammates who were holidaying in the gambling mecca.

His funeral was held at his Victorian seaside home town of Sorrento.
