Adelaide have delisted Brad Symes after the midfielder could manage only two games in 2012.

The 27-year-old was taken by Port Adelaide with pick 30 in the 2003 national draft, and played 20 games for the club - including the disastrous 2007 Grand Final - before being traded across town to West Lakes for the 28th pick in the 2007 draft.

He enjoyed his best season in 2009, playing 20 games, averaging 21.2 possessions per match, and was awarded the Crows' Best Team Man award.

Despite only managing two senior AFL games in 2012, he enjoyed a fantastic season for Central Districts in the SANFL, tying with South Adelaide's Joel Cross to win the competition's highest individual honour, the Magarey Medal.

Crows list manager David Noble said the club wished Symes well for his future endeavours.

"Brad has been a valuable player during his five years at the football club, he is a quality person and we wish him all the best," he said.

"We acknowledge Brad's nine years in the AFL system and would like to thank him for his outstanding service to the Adelaide Football Club.

Symes, who joins the retired Michael Doughty and Chris Knights in leaving the Crows, said he understood the club's position.

"I understand where the club is currently at and respect their decision," he said.

"I have loved my time here, but I'm now looking forward to the next phase of my life."

Sad to see Symes go - the guy was a real trier. Perhaps just lacked that extra touch of class necessary for the highest level.
