Western Bulldogs defender Robert Murphy is unlikely to play against Fremantle on Sunday due to a hamstring problem while Dylan Addison could miss up to a month with a fractured jaw.

Murphy, 30, experienced hamstring soreness on Saturday night as Essendon dished out an 84-point thumping to the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

"(Murphy) was sore in his hamstring and very tight we decided that it wasn't worth the risk so we had taken him off," Western Bulldogs medical services manager Andrew McKenzie said on Monday.

"We have had scans on that and it has cleared him of any acute damage of the hamstring but he is actually sore in his hip as well - he is unlikely to play this week and we will assess him further next week."

Murphy has averaged 20 disposals per game in 2012 and his absence will be a blow at Patersons Stadium against the Dockers.

Addison was also injured against the Bombers, with scans revealing that he had suffered a fractured jaw.

"He (Addison) will miss three or four weeks," McKenzie said.
