Is this the worst penalty ever?

Eurosport., Yahoo!7 September 8, 2011, 5:11 pm

Let this be a warning to takers of cheeky penalties everywhere - when things go wrong you can end up looking like a right idiot.

Amir Sayoud of Egyptian giants Al Ahly perpetrated one of the worst penalties of all time on Tuesday when he attempted to deceive Kima Aswan's goalkeeper from the spot.

Amir approached the ball and faked to shoot but pulled back at the last moment as the goalkeeper move to his right. But as he tried to shoot properly, Amir lost balance and fell over on to the ball, propelling it weakly towards the keeper.

To make matters worse, the goal would not have counted even if he had scored - it is illegal to take a 'fake' shot with a penalty, and the referee showed him a yellow card for his offence.

On the bright side, Al Ahly won the match 4-0.

You can see what he was trying to do, he just ballsed it up. What in the name of Satan's dangly bits was the referee doing by issuing him with a yellow card? Is making a complete prat of yourself a bookable offence now?

The only thing notable about this video was the soccer players taking this in good humor. If these were European or Latin American teams, the penalty-taker would have dived to the ground in mock agony when the goalkeeper patted him on the back of the head.

The white shirted defender went over the line before he kicked the ball? It should be replayed? :O

The rules changed just before the 2010 world cup that taking a fake shot is illegal in the sport and warrants a yellow card. You can do a slow run up, u can (for some reason) make a small pause but you cannot fake the shot.

Why is it a penalty to fake a kick like that? Soccer should allow players to mix it up like that, might make the game at least a bit interesting. They should really make it a penalty to fake injuries and getting knocked down. The game's already filled with too many whiny drama queen prats.

Maybe they can make the deliberate prat falls (glorified by Italy) illegal. Or at the very least make it illegal for referees to be deliberately blind and stupid when faced with fake falls.

The keeper moved off the line before the ball was touched anyway, should have been retaken
