Aaron Hernandez's estate worth nothing; fiancée allowed to sell home

Another chapter in the Aaron Hernandez saga is coming to a close.

Hernandez's fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins Hernandez, has received an offer on the former Patriots tight end's mansion in North Attleboro, Mass., and her attorney, George J. Leontire, filed a motion in court for Jenkins Hernandez to be allowed to sell the home.

According to the Boston Herald, the court gave her permission to do so.

Hernandez committed suicide in jail last week while he was serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, which is why Jenkins Hernandez needed to go through the court system. The offer on the house needed to be accepted by Friday.

The mansion has spent more than a year on the market and has steadily lost value. Though the house is on the market at about $1.29 million, Jenkins Hernandez won't be receiving much of the proceeds from the sale.

Because Lloyd's mother, Ursula Ward, filed a wrongful death suit against Hernandez, much of the money from any sale will likely go to her.

“We have been working with the broker to field offers. We fielded an offer and requested that the house be sold. They (Leontire and Jenkins Hernandez) went to probate court in order to make that possible,” Ward's attorney, Douglas Sheff, told the Herald.

“We’re making the right arrangements so that the house can be turned into money because it’s losing value,” he said. “It’s not being tended to.”

The 7,100-square-foot home has 15 bedrooms, a pool with a waterfall, a movie theater, a wet bar, a built-in grill, a jetted tub, a gourmet kitchen and a three-car garage, along with a finished basement with a sauna, an ice bath and a space for a gym room.
