New Zealand star's incredible slice of ODI cricket history

Ross Taylor has become New Zealand’s all-time leading run-scorer in one-day internationals during Wednesday’s clash with Bangladesh.

Taylor, 34, went past 8000 ODI runs and then eclipsed Stephen Fleming’s record of 8,007 for the Black Caps.

The right-hander needed 51 in the third ODI in Dunedin to get past Fleming and he reached the milestone by whipping Mehidy Hasan to fine leg for a single.

In his 218th ODI, Taylor fell for 69, moving onto 8026 runs in the format at an average of 48.34.

He also became the fourth-fastest batsman to the 8000-run mark, behind Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Sourav Ganguly.

New Zealand set Bangladesh an imposing target of 331 in Dunedin as they seek a 3-0 series whitewash.

The Black Caps cruised to 6-330 after losing the toss and being sent in to bat, with Taylor, Henry Nicholls and Tom Latham all making half centuries.

Mustafizur Rahman was the only Bangladesh bowler to take two wickets, but they came at a price.

He conceded a whopping 93 runs from his 10 overs.
