Storm star in hot water over 'deliberate' dangerous play
An alleged stomp by Nelson Asofa-Solomona has marred an exciting NRL grand final rematch between his Melbourne Storm and the Sydney Roosters.
The Roosters looked set to run away with a big win after racing out to a 20-0 lead after just 30 minutes.
But one of the more controversial moments occurred inside the first 20 minutes.
Just metres away from the try line, Asofa-Solomona kicked out at Roosters rival Jared Waerea-Hargreaves for an attempt at a quick play-the-ball.
Waerea-Hargreaves informed the referee as play continued but his pleas went unheard at the time.
The play came just hours after South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett called on referees to clean up the ruck with more penalties.
Asofa-Solomona’s kick certainly didn’t go unnoticed by fans at home:
How’s the Nelson Asofa-Solomon’s stomp on JWH? I’m no JWF fan but you can’t stomp a dude for making a tackle #NRLStormRoosters

Also went unnoticed a deliberate stomp to JWHs hand right in front of the storms try line and right in front of the ref #NRLStormRoosters

Melbourne later stormed back into the contest to level it up at 20-all early in the second half.
Roosters star Latrell Mitchell won the game in golden point with an incredible act of deception.
