NBA DFS Picks: Fantasy Basketball Building Blocks Today | Tuesday, May 3

Yahoo Play of the Day — Draymond Green: Golden State Warriors at Memphis Grizzlies

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 36.4 | DraftKings: 36.0

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 47.6% | FanDuel 38.3% | DraftKings 33.7%

  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $23 | FanDuel $6,800 | DraftKings $6,500

In Game 1, Draymond Green was tossed in the second quarter after being assessed a Flagrant 2 foul. Golden State went on to win by 1 point, but it will be happy Green is back in the mix tonight. Jaren Jackson Jr. is one of the better defenders in the league, but this is still a good matchup for Green since Brandon Clarke is easier to get rebounds against than the traditional big men in the paint. Though the mercurial forward has just one 40-fantasy-point performance in the postseason, he had at least 29 in every game where he saw action in the second half. Being eligible at power forward is a bonus, and Green is one of the best point-per-dollar options in the player pool.

Look to Green against Memphis tonight in the NBA player prop market. Currently, he has a 7.5 over/under on his rebound prop, and the Awesemo NBA player projections have him for 8.9 rebounds, which gives him a 67% probability of surpassing the over. Though he saw his numbers dip in the series against Denver, the Grizzlies are a better matchup for him to excel in the paint.

Giannis Antetokounmpo: Milwaukee Bucks at Boston Celtics

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 58.26 | DraftKings: 60.16

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 30.2% | FanDuel 52.9% | DraftKings 38.9%

  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $57 | FanDuel $11,200 | DraftKings $11,400

Sunday was a stellar performance by Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, stealing a road victory 101-89 to take the first game of the series. Boston is unlikely to be caught off balance again, which means this should be a spirited affair and Antetokounmpo has a chance to secure a second consecutive triple-double. The two-time NBA MVP has a median projection of nearly 60 fantasy points, with only Ja Morant and Jayson Tatum coming within 15% of that figure. Take the raw points upside and find salary relief at other positions.

Ja Morant: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 51.4 | DraftKings: 53.87

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 36.4% | FanDuel 44.4% | DraftKings 33.4%

  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $45 | FanDuel $10,400 | DraftKings $10,100

The NBA’s Most Improved Player had himself a game on Sunday, just missing out on a triple-double with 34 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists. Morant has now tallied 60 or more fantasy points in two of his last three outings, and he is producing across the entire box score. Tonight, and in most games this series, he should flirt with the 50-fantasy-point plateau, though it is nice to know he has an outside chance of matching Giannis’ production at a significant salary discount.

Yahoo Discount Dandies

Gary Payton II: Golden State Warriors at Memphis Grizzlies ($10): In a bit of a surprise, Gary Payton II was tabbed by coach Steve Kerr to start with Jordan Poole moved to the bench to further stagger his minutes with Curry. Payton continues the family tradition of being a stalwart on defense, and his hustle helps him also contribute on offense by being in the right place at the right time. Though he is likely going to be the fourth or fifth option when he is on the court, he still is a desirable play on Yahoo at the minimum salary — especially if he sticks in a starting role.

Pat Connaughton: Milwaukee Bucks at Boston Celtics ($10): Once more, we have Pat Connaughton at the Yahoo minimum salary with teammate Grayson Allen at $14. Both players are coming off of the bench as part of a wing rotation with starter Wesley Matthews. Though this duo looks locked into a reserve role, both have been seeing fourth quarter action in the absence of Khris Middleton and when Brook Lopez has ceded the center position to a combination of Antetokounmpo and Portis. Connaughton gets the slight nod for the salary savings, though the better option is whichever of this duo is projected for lower popularity in tournaments.

Final Thoughts on NBA DFS Picks for the Tuesday, May 3 Fantasy Basketball Slate

Tonight there are a couple of questionable players in the second game, with Desmond Bane (back) and Ziaire Williams (knee) game-time decisions. Golden State will be without veteran Andre Iguodala (cervical disk) once again.
