NBA betting: Can Suns close it out vs. Clippers? Most bettors think so
Wednesday night presents another opportunity for the Phoenix Suns to win the Western Conference.
The Suns had a commanding 3-1 series lead and were back at home for Game 5 on Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Suns had the chance to clinch a spot in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993, but they could not seize the opportunity in a 116-102 loss.
Now the series has shifted back to Los Angeles for Game 6. The Suns were favored by 5.5 in Game 5, but now find themselves as an underdog ahead of Wednesday night’s game. The Clippers are listed as 1-point favorites at BetMGM with the total set at 214.5.
As of early Wednesday afternoon, most of the betting action has been on the Phoenix side. According to BetMGM, 64% of the bets and 65% of the money are on the Suns. With the total, more of the money is on the under (61%), but 54% of the bets are on the over.
Game 6 marks the fourth time this postseason that the Clippers are facing elimination, and they’ve been in every game this series. The Clippers’ three losses in the series came by a combined 11 points. Their two wins, on the other hand, have been by a combined 28 points.
In Game 5, Paul George poured in 41 points along with 13 rebounds, six assists and three steals. The Clippers also received 23 points from Reggie Jackson and 22 points from Marcus Morris Sr. in the victory. The Clippers have covered in five of their last six home games and six of their last eight games as a favorite.
The Suns were led by Devin Booker’s 31 points, but it was another uneven shooting performance from Booker (9-of-22) and Chris Paul (8-of-19). With the pressure in the series turned up, how will the Suns respond? The Suns are 4-2 ATS as an underdog during the postseason.
