Queensland police are investigating after a mummified body was reportedly found inside a Gold Coast home.

Police found the body of a 69-year-old man at a home on Edinburgh Rd, Benowa, on April 17.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman told NCA NewsWire an investigation was launched into the man’s sudden death after police discovered his body during a welfare check about 2.50pm.

The body had reportedly been there between 18 months to two years and was found in a mummified state.

Investigations are continuing.
