Robbie Maddison looks to bring his stunts to Australia

For motocross stunt rider Robbie Maddison, he’s been pushing the extreme all around the world for years. Now we could be seeing his death-defying stunts up close.

“I really want to bring something down to Australia,” Maddison told Yahoo7 Sport.

“In my opinion, we have the most beautiful landscapes in the world, the clearest water, the rain forests, everything.”

The scenic options for Maddison are endless at home, but it's coming up with the right idea at the right place that will make the decision for him. Plus even world record or two while he's at it.

"It’s a matter of adding all those elements together to create something that can bring people from different areas together, from the surf community, to motorbikes, lovers of extreme sports and just anyone really," he said.

When it comes to pushing the limits, Maddison’s enthusiasm to delve into uncharted waters has seen him jump the Arc de Triomphe in Las Vegas, navigate a bobsled course in Utah and perhaps the most outrageous of them all, his ‘Pipe Dream’ project, where he rode his modified motorbike across the ocean in Tahiti.

A video that was beamed around the world and quickly went viral, amassing over 20 million views on YouTube alone, something he says he definitely didn’t expect.

“I always thought it was a great idea, but we had no idea it would get that kind of reception, Maddison said.

“It was a huge pat on the back for me and the team that it was so successful.”

Maddison who has spent most of the year overseas, is back in Australia to undergo knee surgery to ensure an action packed 2016. Whilst he’s here, he will be soaking up the fun, judging the Red Bull Billy Cart event next month.

“As a family man with two kids under five, it’s the perfect excuse to unleash your inner child.

“I always had a dream of making billy carts when I was a kid, you would always see soapbox derbies in movies and even on the Simpsons. It’s just something you always wanted to build.”

The obstacle course race will be judged on three criteria: creativity, performance and speed, as the contestants navigate Sydney’s Centennial Park course.

The crazier the better, when it comes to the billy carts, with some hilarious designs rumoured to be in the works.
