Motorbike rider in coma after slamming into celebrating rival

Thai motorbike racer Jakkrit Sawangswat is in a coma after a horrifying crash after the finish line at a SuperSport 600cc race in Indonesia.

Indonesian rider Fadli Imammuddin slowed down to wave to the crowd after receiving the checkered flag, when race rival Sawangswat ploughed into the back of his bike.

The terrible impact sent both riders flying and their bikes splintering.

Fadli finished in the middle of the track, suffering a broken leg, while Sawangswat was hurled toward the fence, where he was left motionless.

The Thai rider was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries, where he remains in an induced coma.

Meanwhile, Fadli has had his broken leg operated on, but it may need to be amputated.
