Indy Car wipes out pit crew member

A crew member at Indy Car's Grand Prix of Louisiana has somehow escaped serious injury after a scary incident in pit lane.

Dale Coyne Racing's Francesco Dracone got it horribly wrong coming into the pits and flipped his crew chief, Todd Phillips.

Dracone spun while exiting his pit box, clipping Phillips’ leg and sending him flying.

Officials say Phillips was taken to the infield care centre for treatment, but only required six stitches.

Many drivers struggled in the race conditions after rain had fallen for hours leading up to the green flag.
