Winning the 149th British Open helped Collin Morikawa move up one spot to a career-best third overall in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Morikawa, 24, recorded his second major title on Sunday after carding a 15-under-par 265 at Royal St George's.

He also won the 2020 PGA Championship in his home state of California.

Jon Rahm officially reclaimed the No. 1 spot from Dustin Johnson on Monday after the latter moved past the former last week.

Rahm briefly held the spot twice in 2020, after winning the Memorial and after tying for 13th at the PGA Championship.

Both stints lasted only one event, however, although Rahm has not been outside of the top three since.

Johnson once again is second in the ranking, with Morikawa's rise pushing Justin Thomas down to fourth.
