Montrose pay tribute as founder Reid departs

Montrose have paid tribute to Eilidh Reid, one of the founders of the club in 2017, after confirming she has taken the "difficult decision" to leave.

The midfielder has been part of the journey that has taken the club to the SWPL this season, and she will continue to work for the Montrose Community Trust.

A Montrose statement said: "Eilidh was instrumental in founding what is now MFCW back in 2017.

"If it wasn’t for all her hard work and dedication we would not have gone on the incredible journey that culminated in us becoming a top tier women’s football team this season.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Eilidh from the bottom of our hearts for starting the dream and we wish her all the best for the future."
