Montgomery aims to make history with Hibs

Nick Montgomery has called on his Hibs players to grasp the chance to create more “great memories” in cup competitions.

Hibs take on Aberdeen in the League Cup semis having last lifted the trophy in 2007, while they ended a 114-year wait for a first Scottish Cup triumph in 2016.

Left-back Lewis Stevenson, 35, was involved in both of those wins and club captain Paul Hanlon, 33, played in the most recent one.

Both could start this weekend and head coach Montgomery said: "There's a lot of history at the club. The past is the past but there are some great memories there.

"Now there is an opportunity for some of the players who have been there before to try and get to that moment again and for some of the players who have never been there to try and get to that moment.

"Any time you get to a cup final, it's something to look back on in your career. We’ll give everything we've got to try and make sure we get to the final."
