Montemurro lands Juventus Women coach job

Australian Joe Montemurro has secured another major women's soccer appointment, becoming head coach of Juventus Women in Italy.

Montemurro made his name in the women's game with English powerhouse Arsenal, where he was at the helm between November 2017 and May 2021.

He guided the Gunners to the 2018-19 Women's Super League title, and his tenure also included winning the Continental League Cup in 2018.

For his exploits at Arsenal, Montemurro was nominated as best FIFA Women's Manager of the Year in 2019.

The 51-year-old will take charge of the Italian giants from July 1.

Montemurro was a midfielder who played mainly in Italy during a short professional career before making his start in coaching back in Australia.

From 2014 to 2017, he guidedthe women's sides of Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City, and then replaced Pedro Martinez Losa as manager of Arsenal.
