Mohun Bagan will look forward to bettering their four-match winning streak in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) when they take on Subhash Bhowmich's Tollygunge Agragami in a fifth round clash on Sunday at their home ground.
It has been a terrific start to Bagan's campaign this season and they are well on course to stop their arch-rivals East Bengal from winning their eighth consecutive title this time. The Green and Maroons last won the CFL in 2009.
Shankarlal Chakraborty's men have so far scored 13 goals in four matches and have conceded only two. Striker duo of Stephane Bayi Kamo and Ansumana Kromah have done wonders for the club so far. It has been the foreigners who have scored most of their goals in the tournament. While Kamo has netted six, Kromah has managed to score three so far.
The coach is expected to make a few changes in his starting XI from the previous match. Raynier Fernandes, who had an off day in midfield may get replaced by Surchandra Singh. Goalkeeper Shibinraj who came in place of injured Shilton Paul in the last game had a terrible outing under the post. Soram Poirei who came as a substitute against Calcutta Customs may get his first start in Bagan colours.
After getting thrashed by Mohammedan Sporting in just their second match in the league, ace Indian coach and former India international Subhash Bhowmick took charge of Tollygunge. The team has managed a draw and a win under the tutelage of Bhowmick so far.
The minnows have some quality names in their squad this time. They have roped in former Trinidad and Tobago international and Sporting Clube de Goa striker Anthony Wolfe to their strike force. Other notable names in their squad are former India international Deepak Kr. Mondal, R. Vashum, former Pune FC and Salgaocar defender Chika Wali.
It will be a tough task for Mohun Bagan to notch their fifth straight win against a spirited Tollygunge side.
