Mohamed Elneny excited after extending Arsenal stay

The Gunners boss has ruled out the 25-year-old playing a part for the club this season but is optimistic of his return for the global showpiece

Mohamed Elneny is thrilled after signing a new contract with Arsenal.

The 25-year-old was handed a long-term deal with the Gunners following his impressive performance for the club.

Elneny joined the Londoners in 2016 for a fee of £5 million from FC Basel and has made 65 appearances in all competitions, helping them to win the Community Shield and FA Cup.

Elated by the extension of his stay with the 13-time Premier League champions, the defender has taken to the social media to express his feelings.

“Officially we will be together for a longer time, in order to reach what we started," Elneny tweeted.

"And to put arsenal in it's deserved spot In Europe and the whole world.”

The former Al Mokawloon player who is currently on national team assignment with Egypt will be looking to hit the ground running on his return to Arsenal starting with their game with Stoke City on April 1.
