Rising Aussie UFC star storms to emotional victory

Australian fighter Jessica-Rose Clark's ground game proved decisive as she ended a tough week with a UFC flyweight unanimous points win over high-profile American Paige VanZant in St Louis.

Clark had her Las Vegas apartment burgled and her pet cat put down after it was attacked during the incident, which happened after she left for St Louis.

The Queenslander defeated VanZant by two scores of 29-28 and one of 30-27.

Clark, who improved her UFC record to 2-0, dominated the first two rounds with her grappling against VanZant.

"It was hard. For those who don't know, my house got robbed and they stole $30,000 worth of stuff and they killed my cat," she said after her win.

"This week, the weight card, everything was really tough, trying to get that out of my head and focus on the fight.

"We did what we needed to do."

VanZant told her corner that she thought she broke her arm in the first round, with footage showing it may have occurred on a hit to Clark's head.

Clark's next opponent is unknown but she has declared herself ready to take on anyone.

"I want whoever's next," she said.

"I'm ranked number 10, that means there's (nine) people in front of me. Whoever you want to give me."
