Huge McGregor twist as Horn fight locked in

Jeff Horn's next fight has been confirmed, and UFC star Conor McGregor is part of a massive twist in the Aussie's future.

The Aussie boxer will defend his welterweight title against England's Gary Corcoran in Brisbane on December 13.

According to News Corp Australia, the world champion boxer has locked in a two-fight deal with the State Government and Brisbane City Council that would then see him aimed at fighting McGregor.

The Irishman had his first professional boxing bout back in August when he was stopped in the eighth round by Floyd Mayweather in a fight thought to have earned the combatants more than $300 million between them.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has previously floated the idea of having Horn fight McGregor, and this latest development shows she's very serious about it.

"If we could get (Conor) McGregor, that would be great," she said in September.

For Horn, the Corcoran bout will be his first since a points decision win over Manny Pacquiao back in July.

"He's very fit, strong and hungry," Horn told News Corp.

"He's a dangerous guy. I know what it's like to be a determined underdog just like he is going into this fight.

"This is his golden opportunity to do what I did against Pacquiao but there are millions of dollars on offer for me with big fights in 2018 so I can't let this guy come to my home town and wreck all my good work."

Known as "Hell Raiser", Corcoran has 17 wins and one defeat to Horn's 17 wins and one draw.

He told World Boxing News earlier this month he was keen to face Horn in the biggest fight of his career.

"Horn is there to beat, I can beat him. I've sparred with some world class fighters in this country, I can win a world title," Corcoran said.

The fight will be held at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

The Wednesday night fixture is thought to be most beneficial for pay television earnings.
