Record-setting fight canned as disaster strikes UFC 215

Dana White is facing yet another scheduling nightmare with disaster striking UFC 215 on the weekend.

The company's pound-for-pound king Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson has had his attempt at defending his flyweight title for a record-setting 11th time ruined by the withdrawal of his opponent.

MMA Fighting are reporting that Ray Borg has been forced to pull out of the drawcard bout on Sunday (AEST) due to illness.

"It wasn't weight related," Borg’s nutritionist told MMA Fighting.

"Ray has been getting progressively more sick each day this week and still wanted to fight so badly that he put on a game face and went to all of his fight week obligations.

"However, prior to beginning the bulk of his weight cut the UFC doctor examined Borg and concluded that he was too ill to fight this week and needed time to rest and get better."

The clash between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko will now become the main event of the night.

Australian Tyson Pedro will also be making his main card debut on the night.

More to come.
