Showtime releases epic Mayweather-McGregor promo

The countdown is on to this month's megafight in Las Vegas between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

The long-awaited and oft-criticised bout will go ahead on August 27 Australian time after a controversial lead-in.

Last month's four-day press tour devolved into a war of ugly words, with McGregor accusing Mayweather of using racist language.

But the fight, however mismatched between an undefeated boxer and a champion MMA fighter, is still expected to be a huge success.

And doesn't Showtime's latest pay-per-view spot show it.

Set to the tune of American rapper Aloe Blacc's 'King is Born', plenty of gold features as the prestige builds.

The fight is worth over $200 million all told, if not significantly more, with both fighters set to rake in nine figures each.

The ad suggests as much as 'Money' Mayweather is surrounded by gold Vegas-inspired imagery while McGregor walks out to gold castles draped in Irish flags.

Can McGregor walk the talk or does his mouth move faster than his fists?

The boxing world will find out in less than a month.
