Fighter's touching sportsmanship towards vanquished rival

UFC fighter Omari Akhmedov provided one of the most touching moments seen in the Octagon with a classy gesture toward his beaten opponent.

The Dagestani earned a split decision victory over Abdul Razak Alhassan in their welterweight clash at the Fight Night 109 event in Stockholm.

But it was Akhmedov's reaction at the end of the fight that left the most lasting impression.

Seeing that Alhassan had slumped to the canvas, clearly sapped of energy after a gruelling bout, Akhmedov decided to take a seat next to the Ghanaian and throw a brotherly arm around him.

The warm embrace was applauded loudly by the Stockholm crowd, as both fighters sat next to the cage together bloodied and beaten.

Despite having his face cut open by the Ghanaian during the bout, Akhmedov even planted a kiss to the forehead of his vanquished rival.

Two of the judges had Akhmedov winning all three rounds, while the other had Alhassan ahead 29-28.

Aside from Akhmedov's marvellous show of sportsmanship it was an eventful night in Stockholm, with Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson proposing to his girlfriend after his victory over Glover Teixeira in the main event bout.
