Lesnar to retire from MMA

Brock Lesnar has notified the UFC that he is about to retire from MMA, a UFC spokesperson confirmed.

The heavyweight has already been removed from the USADA drug-testing pool, which means he isn't on the UFC roster anymore.

It was also reported last week that his name has already been removed from the UFC's unofficial online roster.

The 39-year-old was recently suspended for a year by USADA, after failing two drug tests following his UFC 200 victory over Mark Hunt.

That result was eventually overturned by the Nevada Athletic Commission, after he tested positive to clomiphene.

Lesnar would have been eligible to return to competition in July 2017, but that suspension has been frozen as he is no longer in the testing pool.

Lesnar will continue his career in WWE, and is scheduled to perform at WrestleMania 33 in April.

Meanwhile, Australian-based heavyweight Hunt is currently suing the UFC for $US2.5 million ($A3.5 million) after Lesnar's failed drug tests.

The New Zealand-born fighter said he had launched the lawsuit for the earnings that Lesnar won in the fight, after unsuccessfully attempted to obtain his opponent's winning fight purse.

"Yes I am suing Lesnar and the UFC for his entire purse. Cheaters deserve nothing," Hunt told MarkHunt.tv.
