McGregor responds to Mayweather with brutal sledge

Floyd Mayweather has outlined his terms for a potential fight with Conor McGregor, who has responded in typically brash fashion.

After hosing down discussion of the superfight in recent months, Mayweather was on the front foot on Thursday during a live appearance on US talkshow First Take.

"We tried to make the Conor McGregor fight," Mayweather said.

"They knew what my number is. My number was a guaranteed $100 million (US), that way my number, we’re the A-side, and I don’t really know how much money he has made before, I’m pretty sure he hasn’t even made $10 million in an MMA bout."

It seems McGregor has heard the offer, and rather than flatly declining, he took to social media with a jab at Mayweather's questionable past.

"Call me CJ Watson", McGregor tweeted in reference to Mayweather's beef with the pro basketballer, who was allegedly involved with the boxer's ex-girlfriend.

Mayweather was reportedly upset about text messages between his ex-girlfriend and Watson, which led to a Mayweather allegedly assaulting her.

Mayweather served two months in jail for the incident.

McGregor is clearly upset about backhanded comments Mayweather made.

"I mean how can a guy talk about $20-$30 million (US) if he's never even made $8-$9 million (US)?" Mayweather said.

"I'm saying right here on this show, Conor McGregor keep telling everyone he wants the fight.

"Let's make it happen...Dana White, The UFC, Let's make it happen. Bring him over to the boxing world and I'll show him what it's like. Easy."

Mayweather's comments come after McGregor also demanded $100 million (US) in November.

"Floyd's not ready for this," McGregor said at the time.

"Much respect to Floyd. He's a solid businessman. What he's been able to do, he's a f*cking animal at what he's been able to do.

"[But] as far as real fighting - true, pure unarmed combat - Floyd don't want none of this. He does not want none of this.

"He wants it under boxing rules. He wants a boxing match. He doesn't want a fight.

"Give Floyd a shout; tell him I'm coming. Tell him to run around Showtime offices.

"I want $100 million (US) to fight him under boxing rules because he's afraid of a real fight."

The Irishman's last disclosed purse was $3 million (US) for his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 202, but he reportedly earned upwards of $10 million dollars in pay-per view and sponsorship dollars.

It will be interesting to see how the UFC champion responds to the latest comments from Mayweather.
