Holloway takes interim UFC title, calls out Jose 'Waldo'

Conor McGregor may have made the featherweight title famous, but Max Holloway looks determined to follow in the trash-talking Irishman’s footsteps after his victory at UFC 206.

Holloway stunned Anthony Pettis in Toronto to become the interim featherweight champion and take his winning streak to ten fights.

The Hawaiian dominated Pettis from the outset, and after gaining the upper hand in the opening two rounds, became the first man to stop the American fighter with a TKO in the third.

Holloway’s delight was clear to see as he celebrated wildly by diving over the top of the cage, before turning his attentions to Jose Aldo - the long-time champion who was unable to compete in Toronto.

“I want Aldo,” Holloway said post-fight.

“We couldn’t find Aldo so I started calling him Waldo (the US version of ‘Where’s Wally’).

“Hashtag #JoseAldo, tell him to meet me in Brooklyn (At UFC 208) in February and let’s get the real one (title).

“Let me know when you guys find him. I’ll be waiting.”

“Hey Dana White, that’s 50 (grand) right there. This man (Pettis) has never been stopped before.”
