Boxer hurls table at rival during wild presser

A boxing press conference has erupted in anger as Dereck Chisora threw a table at Dillian Whyte ahead of their heavyweight title bout.

The two fighters were exchanging verbal barbs when Chisora took exception to something his opponent said.

The 32-year-old then stood up, picked up his table and threw it across the the room in the hope of hitting his opponent.

Whyte maintained his cool during the episode, however one of his entourage stood up and hurled a projectile at Chisora after copping a hit from the table.

During the conference, Whyte had told his opponent: "If I see you anywhere, I’m going to attack you – even after the fight."

"Why should this guy threaten my life right now?" Chisora said in response.

“Everything was great until he started threatening my life. He didn’t say it once, he said it a couple of times. Threaten my life when we are in the ring all you like, but not outside. That is not cool. He wants to make it hooligan-like, but that is not me."

Chisora, who has six defeats from 32 fights, will now be weigh in separately to his opponent.

The two won't face off at all before their title bout in Manchester on Saturday (GMT).
