Jordan "Pretty Boy" Parsons, a 25-year-old contender in Bellator's featherweight division, has died of injuries he sustained in a hit-and-run auto accident.

Parsons was struck by a Range Rover while crossing the street shortly after midnight on May 1. He was taken to Delray Medical Center in Florida, where a portion of his right leg was amputated.

On Thursday, Bellator MMA president Scott Coker confirmed the news in a statement.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons," Coker said. "Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates."

Jordan was a member of the Blackzilians and was training partners and close friends with fighters such as Rashad Evans and Anthony "Rumble" Johnson.

According to police, the driver who hit Parsons never stopped. Police are still seeking the public's assistance to find the driver. Police said the Range Rover lost its left mirror in the accident.

Parsons was 11-2 in his MMA career and 2-1 in Bellator. He lost a split decision to Bubba Jenkins at Bellator 146 in his last fight in November.
