MMA fighter thanks wife AND girlfriend in awkward interview

MMA fighter Benny Madrid had some serious explaining to do after his post-fight interview when he thanked both his wife and girlfriend for their support.

The 35-year-old had just defeated Jeff Fletcher at the World Series of Fighting before awkwardly sticking his foot in his mouth.

"Thank you everyone who believed in me…my wife and girlfriend," Madrid said.

The curious comment had social media ablaze with jokes, but Madrid was straight on top of it, jumping into the comments section on Sports Illustrated’s Facebook page to squash any confusion.

"Lol it's my girlfriend/fiancé that's going to be my wife.. Was caught up in the moment,” he wrote.
