Miracle Workers has come to an end. TBS has canceled the anthology comedy series, its last remaining live-action comedy, after four seasons. The Season 4 finale, which is now the series finale, aired August 28.
The cancellation is not entirely unexpected. Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reported in January that Season 4 could be the last. At the time, she heard that TBS no longer had options on the cast, led by Daniel Radcliffe, so new deals would need to be made for a possible fifth season — a daunting proposition, which networks rarely resort to. But she heard that the series’ creative team had an idea for a potential fifth season that Radcliffe was excited about, so, if Season 4 did well ratings-wise, it was possible that the show could have continued with Radcliffe, who would have needed to make a new pact.

In the fourth season, stars Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Karan Soni and Jon Bass portrayed new characters in a dystopian future full of radioactive mutants, killer robots and a tyrannical homeowner’s association with outrageous annual fees.
In a post-apocalyptic future, a wasteland warrior (Radcliffe) and a ruthless warlord (Viswanathan) faced the most dystopian nightmare of all: settling down in the suburbs. Together they navigated the existential horrors of married life and small-town living, all under the dubious guidance of a wealthy junk trader (Buscemi). Bass also starred as the couple’s faithful war dog, and Soni as a kill-bot who loved to party. Guest stars in Season 4 included Quinta Brunson, Garcelle Beauvais, Kyle Mooney, Ego Nwodim, Lolly Adefope, Paul F. Tompkins and Lisa Loeb.
Miracle Workers was created by Simon Rich and produced by Lorne Michaels. Dan Mirk and Robert Padnick served as showrunners and executive produced alongside Andrew Singer and Katy Jenson of Michaels’ Broadway Video, Simon Rich, Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi.
American Dad, which is currently airing its 18th season and has been renewed for Season 19, remains as TBS’ last scripted original.
Miracle Workers‘ cancellation was first reported by Deadline’s sister pub TVLine.
