Miley Cyrus’ Grammys Performance Includes Surprise Tina Turner Tribute

As far as we’re concerned, Miley Cyrus’ performance of “Flowers” at Sunday’s Grammy Awards marked the official start of spring, groundhog be damned. That said, we weren’t expecting the song’s TV debut to segue into a low-key tribute to Tina Turner, who died in May.

Cyrus received a whopping six Grammy nominations this year: Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Endless Summer Vacation; Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Flowers”; and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Brandi Carlile for “Thousand Miles.”

As for this year’s other nominees, SZA led the pack with nine nominations, followed by Phoebe Bridgers, Serban Ghenea and Victoria Monét with seven. Tied for third place with six nominations apiece were Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, Brandy Clark, Boygenius, Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift.

And Cyrus was just one of several highly anticipated performers at this year’s Grammys. Others included Eilish, Rodrigo, SZA, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, 21 Savage, Brandy Norwood, Dua Lipa, Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, Luke Combs, Tracy Chapman and U2.
