Meghan Markle has only been seen a handful of times since she gave birth to her and Prince Harry’s first child Archie back in May, but royal watchers were pleased to see the new mum looking happy and healthy while at Wimbledon this week.

Out to watch her good mate Serena Williams take to the court, little baby Archie wasn’t far from Meghan’s mind - or heart, we should say - as she was wearing a necklace with the letter ‘A’.

That fine piece of jewellery was the work of London-born, Australian-based designer Emma Swann, who creates delicate necklaces and custom rings (including this writer’s wedding band) out of her inner Sydney studio for Verse Fine Jewellery.

Emma first got in touch with the Duchess of Sussex’s people when Meghan and Harry were visiting Australia in October, and sent off one of her ‘love letter’ necklaces when Archie was born.

“I’m such a royal fan and also gave her another personalise necklace when they were over for the Invictus Games last year,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

“It’s wonderful to see how Meghan embraces fashion and doesn’t always fit the ‘royal’ mode. Hopefully she’ll wear that one soon too!”

The necklace retails for $590 in yellow gold, and can also be made with a love heart, or with two letters for $675.

Less than 24 hours after Meghan’s appearance at Wimbledon, Emma has been inundated with online orders, with customers wanting to purchase initials for their children or partners.

But she isn’t the only Australian designer currently experiencing the ‘Markle effect’, as the duchess was also wearing jeans by Queensland label, Outland Denim.

She opted for the $200 high-rise ‘Harriet’ jean in the colour ‘Byron Tonal’, which has since sold out.

The label, which provides “sustainable employment to women who have experienced exploitation”, is now only taking pre-orders with delivery in November.

It’s great to see Meghan embracing Australian talent on the global scale.
