Top seed Daniil Medvedev has defeated Casper Ruud in straight sets at the Mallorca Championships to set up a semi-final clash with home favourite Pablo Carreno Busta.

Russia's world No.2 Medvedev saw off the rising Norwegian Ruud 7-5 6-1 after Carreno Busta, the fourth seed, had ended the challenge of Australian Jordan Thompson 6-4 6-4 in Thursday's quarter-finals.

On the other side of the draw, two of Carreno Busta's fellow Spaniards, third-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut and Feliciano Lopez, both lost their last-eight ties.

Bautista Agut was beaten 6-3 7-6 (7-4) by Sam Querrey, while Lopez went down 6-4 3-6 6-3 against Adrian Mannarino.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic, who's been in Spain enjoying a low-key approach to his Wimbledon preparations, reached his first doubles final in 11 years as he and Carlos Gomez-Herrera beat Oliver Marach and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi 6-3 7-6 (7-4).

Djokovic is bidding to add to the sole doubles title on his CV that he won alongside Jonathan Erlich at Queen's Club in 2010.
