Key Matildas midfielder Emily van Egmond has returned to the National Women's Soccer League with the Orlando Pride.

The 28-year-old had been without a club since turning down a contract offer from West Ham in May, following her standout 2020-21 FAWSL season for the Hammers.

Pending receipt of a P-1 visa, van Egmond will join Orlando's push for play-offs, having previously played 25 games for the Pride between 2018-2020.

"We are all very pleased to have Emily returning to our club and greatly look forward to her arrival," Orlando Pride general manager Ian Fleming said.

"Emily is a proven talent in this league, already familiar with our environment, and has all the necessary abilities to slot into, reinforce, and make a strong positive impact upon our squad.

"As we work through the visa process, which has unfortunately been delayed due to COVID, we're hopeful Emily is able to get to Orlando in the coming weeks to provide our team additional talent to close out the season and this important play-off push."

Kansas City's Chloe Logarzo, who is sidelined after an ACL injury, is the only other Matilda currently signed to a NWSL club.
