Mandy Moore's family just got a bit bigger!

The Dr. Death actress, 39, announced on Instagram that she and husband Taylor Goldsmith have welcomed a new dog named Marshmallow to their crew.

On Saturday, Moore posted an adorable photo of the blonde puppy, sharing that Marshmallow was "found wandering the streets for several days" miles away from their home by their nanny.

"He’s about 6-7 months, unchipped, not fixed (but scheduled for next week) and just the most unexpectedly wonderful addition to our gang," Moore wrote.

"We weren’t looking for another dog but he was looking for us and the fact that he looks remarkably like our dear Joni made it too impossible to ignore."

The puppy, who joins the family more than three years after the death of their dog Joni, also is starting to get to know Moore's other pets.

"The cats are nonplussed and Jackson (our 14 year old shepherd mutt rescue) is also a little 🤷‍♀️ but Marshmallow is slowly winning them over," she wrote.

She added of her 2-year-old son August "Gus" Harrison's reaction, "When we showed Gus a picture of him and asked what his name was, without hesitation he shouted 'Marshmallow!' With his arms in the air. Done and done."

Moore and Goldsmith, 38, also share son Oscar "Ozzie" Bennett, whom they welcomed in October 2022.

"Can’t wait for all of the adventures, sir," she wrote of the new pup, alongside the hashtag "#adoptdontshop."

Several famous friends commented in support of the family's new addition, including Rachel Bilson, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and animal media brand The Dodo. "Love him!!!! ❤️," Bilson wrote of the puppy.

The puppy joins the Moore-Goldsmith family not long after a "cozy" holiday season, which the This Is Us star opened up to PEOPLE about in December. Sharing her Christmas plans, Moore explained at the time how the foursome would be enjoying some quality time together.

"I'm excited for these next couple of weeks just to be home and cozy and enjoy this time of year," she said.

"[Gus] is loving being a big brother and he is loving the holidays," Moore said. "Now, he's aware of it in a way that he wasn't until this year, like last year, he was just sort of starting to grasp Christmas trees, but now that he understands the concept of Santa and all of that it's so much more exciting."
