Man City 'already have next manager in mind' to replace Pep Guardiola, claims Ederson
Manchester City have already decided who they want to replace Pep Guardiola as manager, according to goalkeeper Ederson.
Guardiola’s current contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire next summer.
The Spaniard could yet sign a one-year extension to make it 10 years at City, but has yet to make a decision on his future.
Whatever happens, Ederson believes that City have a succession plan in place should Guardiola call time on his tenure in Manchester.
When asked if his future was tied to that of his manager, Ederson said: “No, not at all.
“Today City is a very well-structured club, well managed, great directors, great CEO.
“I believe the club already has the next manager in mind the day Pep decides to leave, they will try to follow the same line of work.
“Of course it'd be a great loss, we're talking about the best manager in the world, but I see a really well-prepared club for the post-Pep era.”
When asked if he was contacted about the England job before Thomas Tuchel was appointed, Guardiola said on Friday: "It doesn't matter.
"The club have options when Pep will leave. Sooner or later it will happen and they have to prepare. It will not be a surprise.
"I want to be really convinced it is the best for the club. I will not delay any action thinking it will be a problem for the club."
