Married at First Sight's Cameron is accepting some hard truths as his fate with Clare hangs in the balance.

In PEOPLE's exclusive sneak peek at Wednesday's episode of the hit Lifetime series, Cameron and Clare sit down with relationship experts Cal Robinson, Dr. Pia Holec and Dr. Pepper Schwartz on Decision Day to have a candid conversation about the future of their marriage.

"I'm going to say it plainly: I f---ed up the process," Cameron begins. "Like I – through maybe wanting to take control, through ... trying to defend myself against what I thought was an impending rejection."

"I can't tell you the exact reason, I obviously felt a reason to do it and I'm sorry for that," he adds.

Clare contemplates his words before accepting his apology and sharing, "I appreciate that. It means a lot. I forgive you."

Though Cameron is able to acknowledge the way his actions have affected their relationship, their fate remains up in the air. After noting that his admission was "beautiful" and "opened up a door," Cal reminds the couple they're here to make an important decision on how to proceed with their marriage.

"The time has come for you to decide whether to remain separated and get a divorce, or get to know each other after the documentation and maybe reset to give it another shot," he says.
