Married at First Sight Australia has confirmed a key change in direction for its 11th season.

Channel Nine's head of content, production and development Adrian Swift told The Herald Sun that the reality show will aim to give a greater focus to the more positive aspects of the relationships.

"We have tried to move away from the screechy and the shouty," he explained. "We still give it all the drama that it needs, but we've tried to absolutely make sure all the relationships we see genuine potential in.

"This year what we have tried to do really carefully, exhaustively, is go, 'Is this right?'

"There will still be those moments when [brides and grooms] take one look [at each other] and it all goes south, but we are hoping that there is a lot of love in this season."

The past few years have been known for huge dramas and confrontations, including cheating scandals and OnlyFans controversies.

Melinda Willis, who appeared in the most recent season, discussed earlier this month how she originally thought she would come across as a "villain".

"Layton wrote me cards on my birthday saying, 'My villain match', and I was like, 'I don't care if I am, I am speaking my truth'," she said on Tahnee Cook's podcast Chuffed.

"If I really cared about my edit, I wouldn't have said half the shit I said."

The 2024 season of the Australian version not only introduces the oldest-ever groom on the show, it'll also see two guys tying the knot for the very first time.
