Ivan Cleary's incredible act of brotherly love

Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary has produced a wonderful act of generosity for a sick family member.

The 46-year-old Cleary underwent surgery recently to donate a kidney to his ailing brother Ash.

The surgery was reportedly a success and Cleary is said to be recovering at home after spending a few days in hospital.

Cleary endured a frustrating first year as Tigers coach after taking over mid-season from Jason Taylor.

However it would have paled in comparison to his emotional struggle with his brother's illness, which is not known at this time.

The Wests Tigers said Cleary has their full support and the selfless act typifies the kind of person he is.

The former Warriors and Penrith Panthers coach led the Tigers to just six wins in 2017 after taking over from Taylor just five games into the season.

The Tigers are currently enjoying some off-season rest, and the surgery isn't expected to affect Cleary's preparations for 2018.
