7th Tackle: B-ball preparation for Kiwi cousins

James Tamou and Kenny Edwards will be key figures in their respective team’s chances this weekend’s semi finals.

But the duo has already faced some big game nerves this week, turning out together in an amateur basketball final on Tuesday night.

Raised in New Zealand, the forwards are first cousins and have been playing alongside each other in the Redfern-based competition for the past few weeks.

Edwards is an old hand – having turned out on the court alongside Corey Norman and James Segeyaro for most of the year.

He recruited Tamou late in the season as the team made its charge for the title. Tamou is indeed a handy acquisition.

The tall timber made a combined high schools basketball side when living in Sydney as a teenager and gave the sport some serious consideration before choosing rugby league.
