7th Tackle: More bad luck for Laurie Daley

The Rugby League gods really can be cruel. After enduring another painful Origin defeat this year, Laurie Daley turned his coaching focus to the Holy Cross Rhinos Under 15s.

The Blues coach has guided the teenagers for the entire season, turning up religiously to training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Daley persisted even after his son Will suffered an ACL tear early in the season. His only absences were due to Origin duties and he was back on deck as soon as the series finished.

But sadly the Rhinos finished up short last weekend, losing their semi-final to Leichhardt Wanderers in the Sydney Combined competition.

However, we’re confident it’s not the last rugby league has seen of coach Daley.

The NSWRL has a board meeting scheduled for the end of this month, where its expected he’ll be extended with the Blues for at least another 12 months.
